Dry Needling

Dry Needling provides fast effective pain relief which is natural and drug free. Dry needling is very effective in the management of most conditions such as back, neck, shoulder pain, tennis elbow, plantar fasciitis, tendinopathy etc. Please call 1300 439 034 if you are unsure whether your condition can be treated with dry needling.

What is Dry Needling?

Dry Needling involves placing single use acupuncture needles at specific points on the muscle. This triggers the muscle to relax which provides effective pain relief. Dry needling also induces natural endorphins in your body to be released which further add to pain relief and relaxation. Dry

needling is different to acupuncture as the needles are not placed at meridian points like it is in acupuncture.

How long does it take?

The needles need to be left in place for at least 15-20 minutes to ensure an effective treatment. Please allow half an hour for the whole session.

How long do the effects last for?

The pain relieving effects from dry needling usually last for 2-5 days depending on your activity and condition. Usually the pain will be less in intensity if it does re-appear. For long lasting results you need to have several consecutive sessions of dry needling combined with therapeutic exercises to address the underlying cause of the problem.

Are there any side effects of dry needling?

It is common to have local spot bleeding or light bruising as the needles may affect superficial blood vessels. This is usually pain free and subsides relatively quickly. Special care is taken to ensure the needles are placed at a correct angle to avoid damage to the lungs and other organs. Single use sterile needles are used with the area to be dry needled swabbed down with alcohol to reduce the risk of infections which is rare. You should always ensure dry needling is done from an experienced and qualified therapist. Please notify us if you have any medical conditions.
